Features of Beverage Dollies and Hand Trucks

At first glance Dutro’s beverage hand trucks look quite simple. Like most of our specialty dollies the beverage hand truck line was designed for specific purposes – to move kegs, crates of bottled beverages or flats of cans. The beverage business, like most, has changed over time and now material handling equipment has to handle even more varieties of water, beer, soda, juice and dairy products in ever more diverse packaging. Yet Dutro’s classic design handles them all.

Most using beverage hand trucks need to maneuver from truck-to-store, around crowded coolers and in tight back rooms. This diverse landscape requires trucks with the following attributes:

  1. A Slender Profile – these dollies are not quite as wide as our standard line hand trucks. With a 14″ plate the hand truck is designed to handle common beverage packaging. The more slender size makes delivering to tight-spaces such as walk-in coolers easier.
  2. “Just Right” wheels –  The mid-sized wheels are flat-free tires that help maintain the trim profile. They are great are multiple floor surfaces and can handle the 800 lb rating these trucks are rated for.
  3. Concave receiving – Beverages are packed in a variety of types of crates and cartons. Some even come in cylindrical shapes. The deep seater in the beverage hand trucks without the center bar support can handle the weighty depth of most beverage packages.
  4. Sturdy toeplate – Beverages are heavy, so the toe-plate supporting all that weight is a about 1/4″ thick — giving it the heavy duty weight capacity.
  5. Mid-Height Loop Handles – Movers of beverages appreciate the loop handles that are designed to better maneuver the lower center of gravity that comes from trucks of this type hauling beverages. The weight of stacked cartons, drums or cylinders is best handled from powering the lower half of the body – saving on back issues and other wear and tear.

These hand trucks are simple in their offering. There is a low profile truck and a taller version for handling great amounts of product. Along with those two height options, there is a stabilizing center center bar on both size of hand trucks, offering something stronger for different kinds of beverage packaging all while maintaining the slender profile.
